Additional Parent Information

At Koala Lou Child Care, we believe that every child is a unique  individual, who deserves the  highest quality care. We welcome and encourage parent participation and involvement.  It is our belief  that by working together, parents and teachers can encourage and promote each child to develop to their full potential. Our Open Door Policy encourages parents to actively engage and participate in their child’s day.

You are more than welcome to stay and join in our program, once your child has settled into our Centre. Your child will feel very special and you will have an opportunity to view our developmentally appropriate programs. We encourage you to discuss your child’s development and progress throughout the year with your child’s Group Leader. We value and welcome your suggestions / input into our programs and goals. We encourage any family members as resources in all aspects of our programs. We believe this enables us to strengthen the link between home and the Centre.

As this is probably the first of a series of “educational” establishments that you will be involved with, we encourage you to actively participate in the management, program and social aspects of the Centre so that you can gain an appreciation of this important step for your child.

Koala Lou Child Care Centre CoorparooThere are many other ways that Parents can be involved in our Centre including:

  • programmed daily activities offering some special skills e.g. cooking, sewing, carpentry etc.
  • helping with administrative activities e.g. book repairs, photocopying, typing etc.
  • providing suggestions, ideas and resources for the program
  • collecting usable “junk” to be used in our programmed activities
  • helping out with fund-raising. The children benefit from all fund-raising efforts

Parent Orientation, this is an important time to share information about your child and for you and your child to become familiar with the Centre staff and operations. We would also encourage you to bring your child in to visit the Centre before he/she starts, as familiarisation will help your child to settle at the Centre.

Communication is a very important key aspect of your child’s day while at our Centre. To ensure continuity of care, we like to learn as much about your child as possible to ensure that we bridge the gap between home and the Centre.

We have many avenues of verbal and written staff/ parent communication.
